Exiles Return: Maged Zaher and Jamaica Baldwin Read at Arundel

  • Arundel Books 212 1st Ave S. Seattle, WA 98104 (map)

On December 15, two of Seattle’s exiled literary voices return! Maged Zaher and Jamaica Baldwin will be reading at Arundel Books from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Zaher was long a standout on Seattle’s literary scene. Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Zaher’s poetry travels between Egypt and America, identity and ideas of belonging, romance and the cynical aside. In 2013, Zaher won the Genius Award for Literature from “The Stranger”.

Baldwin’s poetry offers powerful examinations of race and politics. Her work has been featured in "Jack Straw Anthology", "Rattle", "Spiral Orb", and "The Seattle Review of Books" where she was the March 2017 poet in residence. Baldwin also co-edited Zaher’s "Opting Out: Early, New, and Collected Poems" (Chatwin 2017). After earning her MFA from Pacific University Oregon, Baldwin was named a 2017 Jack Straw Writers Fellow.

Join Arundel for an evening of thought-provoking, innovative poetry from these remarkable poets in what is now a rare Seattle appearance. Free refreshments will be served!
